Nothing breaks my immersion more than hearing my character go "Who's there?", "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!" and the like. I absolutely hate it when they speak in-game. Though in horror games I do like it when the character speaks in cutscenes, When I'm running around doing stuff and getting caught up in the atmosphere of a horror game nothing ruins that feeling faster than my character running his/her mouth. In any event, I would prefer to keep Linda silent outside of combat 'grunts' or even cut-scenes. A great example of what Evil just said "emotion without voice acting". I really liked the opening with Linda and Ira (was that her friend's name?) were goofing around outside the school. I haven't been able to play more than a few minutes since it came out (been stuck at work getting them OT hours). I was actually curious if she's mute in the story.
